WHAT IS THE LEWIS COUNTY NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE?
This day on September 14, 2013, is a designated day of service in Lewis County and the surrounding areas, sponsored by the Committee for the National Day of Service. This committee was formed by devoted members of local LDS churches and Catholic parishes here in Lewis County.
This day is not necessarily a focus on religion, but rather a commitment to give back to our communities through organized service projects. The Committee for the National Day of Service recognizes that as God's people we are called to serve others, especially the poor and needy. Our goal is to make people aware of this calling to serve our fellow neighbor, and to let them know that everyone has the ability and duty to serve others.

why a day of service in lewis county?
This day of service is not only in recognition of our duty as Christians, but also a response to President Obama's declaration of a "National Day of Service" on September 11th. Our committee is also aware of the needs in our communities and strives to help make our area a better place to live and prosper. This day of service is truly a way to fulfill our obligation to help our fellow man.
